How to get there

The easiest way to get to Villa Gelsi is to fly with Ryanair from London Stansted to Ancona. Ryanair currently have daily scheduled flights which arrive at Ancona at about 09.50 local time. easyJet also now fly from London Gatwick to Ancona, but only from the end of June to the end of October – and rather inconveniently only on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Ancona’s new terminal is rarely crowded. The drive to Villa Gelsi is about 55 minutes.

Alternatively, Ryanair also flies to Rimini, and the drive from there to Villa Gelsi is in the region of 1 hour 10 minutes. Bologna Marconi airport is a convenient touchdown for both the mainstream scheduled flights and budget airlines Ryanair and easyJet, and the drive is about two to two and a half hours to Villa Gelsi by car.

You can also fly with Ryanair from Stansted to Pescara (two and a half hours drive) and Perugia (one and three quarter hours) although the flight times are not so convenient, and flights are not always every day.

Both Alitalia (from London Heathrow, via Rome) and British Airways (direct from Heathrow) fly to and from Bologna Marconi.

Rome Flumicino airport (about three and a half hours drive by car) offers a wider choice of airlines.

Car Hire

There are a number of car hire agencies located at all of the airports listed above. If you are flying to either Ancona or Rimini with Ryanair, you can book your car hire through Hertz via the airline’s website. However, you may wish to consider using Auto Europe to book your car hire, as we have found them to generally offer better deals.
